As a young kid, I was fascinated by series and movies like Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate. I wanted to be a science officer on the Enterprise, and „boldly go where no man has gone before.”
Today, I have the opportunity to at least partially fulfill my dreams. All thanks to the project „Revolutionizing Space Lubrication: Elevating Tribological Excellence with Flake Graphene Innovations” written by Małgorzata Djas (Łukasiewicz – Institute of Microelectronics and Photonics, Flake Graphene Research Group) and Marcelina Stasik from Astronika sp. z o.o.
This project may in the future allow for the use of G-Flake® materials in lubricants for special purposes. In the vacuum of space, where conventional lubricants like oil or grease would evaporate or degrade quickly, specialized lubricants are essential.
GO GO GO into space!
